Unity:
u·ni·ty | \ yo͞onədē: the state of being united or joined as a whole.
As the world is saturated with the media coverage of COVID-19, the death toll around the worlds is at a steady increase. Unless you live under a rock, you're probably feeling uncertain about what tomorrow may bring. Are people expected to stay optimistic when the media is saturated with negative news coverage?
Pandemic Crisis
Statistics have shown an increase of social media user increase by 40% since the global pandemic was announced the beginning of March 2020.(https://www.campaignlive.com/article/coronavirus-sparks-huge-jump-social-media-use-study-finds/1677276)
“Are we expected to stay optimistic when the media is saturated with negative coverage?”
How are people coping with such a pandemic? Unemployment is not only rising in the USA but globally. Every waking moment of our day seems questionable through quarantine and social distancing. You do not have to be an over thinker to be a bit anxious. You can feel fear in the air as you take precautions not to be in close proximity with anyone in fear of this virus.
Opportunity within Crisis
As an up and coming entrepreneur, I viewed COVID-19 as a obstacle to disrupt my professional progress. Engagements were cancelled, flights were missed and refunds were given. It felt like my author/speaking career ended before it started.
At first I prayed... and waited. Nothing. So I prayed some more. Still nothing. Spent several days in prayer and I'm like, "okay God, are you still there?"
I spoke to friends and family this week and went into prayer once again. This time, I felt His presence on this situation. In my heart, I felt the Holy Spirit say,"open your eyes, it's not about you... so pay attention."
As a citizen of the world, I responded by partnering with a local Buffalo, NY artist One Love (who happens to be my brother in Christ) to create a song called "Unity" releasing in April 2020. (Onelovemovements.com)
Being saturated in the business culture for nearly 7 years, I tend to forgot that life is not about personal achievement or climbing the ladder to success. Success is the byproduct between your response to God's calling and how you love your neighbor. God's calling may required a response to global adversity. This is an opportunity to be realigned for unity within the global community.
Unity within Community
“Success is the byproduct between your response to God's calling and how you love your neighbor. ”
Instead of waiting around, I stay active during the pandemic... with prayer (and sometimes running the park, but mostly prayer).
History is unfolding before our eyes through a worldwide pandemic, so I pray.
Prayers for those who are losing their lives (and livelihood) to the virus.
Prayers for families that feel too uncertain to pray through it.
Prayers for our health care heroes risking their lives in this COVID-19 battle.
Now is the time to realize your loved ones are your priority, not your career.
Now is the time to Realign With Unity.
What will this results be when this global pandemic finally passes over?
I see a future where the global community can come together as fellow neighbors.
This is an opportunity to put aside biased opinions and show compassion for others.
Let's not be students, teachers, speakers, workers, preachers, or any other title you possess... for once, let's come together to love our neighbors. Let's re-prioritize our lives and Realign With Unity.
The thousands of negative images are influencing the thoughts of the global community.
